This shousey design can be used as an accessory dwelling unit (ADU), a guest house, an in-law apartment, or a rental unit. A shousey is a combination of a store and a home. One garage door is 8′ x 8′ and the other is 18′ x 9′. This means that three cars can fit inside. It’s a big, open room with a door in the back corner. Along the wall that separates the garage from the house are the laundry and mechanicals.

The home’s living room has a domed ceiling and is open to the kitchen and its 13-foot by 3-foot island. The vaulted covered patio can be reached through two 8′ by 8′ quad patio doors, while the covered porch has its own entrance. The bedrooms are the last thing to be added to the house. They all share a bathroom. Instead of steel, a regular 2×6 frame was employed.
